There are many elements that determine South African clothing and some of them are influenced by cultural factors in different locations. The type of raw material used in manufacturing clothes also influences the nature of dressing in this country. However, differences in culture significantly shape the behavior of people towards the aspect of dressing though it can be noted that this country does not have a preferred dress.

South Africa is a populous country and it is comprised of people who belong to different cultures. These people have their own beliefs and values which shape their behavior and this extends to the aspect of dressing. Some clothes which are very popular among other groups like the urban populace are regarded as taboo in other places like rural areas which are conservative. Old people are resistant to change and they want to maintain their traditional beliefs with regards to clothes that can be worn by men and women.

The climatic conditions in this country vary from place to place and this also influences the type of clothes worn during specific seasons. Manufacturers of clothes take this aspect into consideration when they design different dresses. Some clothes are suitable for extremely hot climatic conditions in other provinces like the Northern as well as the Western Cape.

The aspect of fashion is another factor that influences the type of dressing in this nation. This country is in contact with cultures from different countries and they have designer clothes which are very popular among the youths. Therefore, it can be seen that people who are conscious to the aspect of culture wear clothes that are quite different from the old folk.

To a certain extent, the type of clothes worn by people in this country is mainly influenced by their profession. Some professions require people to wear formal dressing and this influences the manufacturers of clothes to design different types of dress. However, it can be seen that a lot of companies are not strict about the issue of dressing and people can wear any type of clothes as long as they are presentable.

The aspect of religion also determines the type of dressing of a certain group of people who follow a specific system of belief or worship. For instance, some religions have a specific dressing code that is expected to be followed by all the members who belong to it. This type of regalia is used as a symbol of identity and it distinguishes one group of people from the other.

This Southern African country is a cotton producer and this commodity is used for manufacturing different clothes. It can also be seen that nylon is produced in this country and it is used for manufacturing different types of dresses. The raw materials used by clothing companies also have a bearing on the final products that are sold to different people.

The choice of clothes is determined by various factors in different countries. People belong to different religions as well as cultures and these have an influence on the kind of dressing they may prefer. For instance, it can be noted that South African clothing is influenced by a number of factors that are biased towards a certain culture.
