Party Menu Ideas

By Joshua Nikenya

Party menu ideas work depending on the theme of your party and the kind of guests you have invited. You really have to know whether you are going to provide finger foods if it's not a sit-down dinner. Another issue that you should consider before serving the meal is the time factor. After 6pm, you should offer substantial meals. Afternoon parties are the easiest to organise as you won't serve plenty of food.

Here are some ideas on the kind of food you should serve;

1. You can serve snack foods such as pates, chips, dips, cheese, biscuits and popcorns when the day of your party comes. You can make dips from your kitchen or buy some from the stores.

2. Pizza is a simple food that all your friends can enjoy whether you made it yourself or if you ordered it. Teenagers and children prefer the pizzas. Making the guests to prepare the pizza is a means of bringing entertainment to your party. You can top it with ham, peppers, onions, pepperoni, anchovies, olives and cheese.

3. If you chose to prepare barbeques, the guests must be present to enjoy the activity. Guests, particularly men enjoy participating in this activity. Meat such as hamburgers, marinated chicken pieces, steak and kebobs can help make the barbeques simple. Fish and shrimps can also make good barbeques. Shrimps, drumsticks and kebobs are best served while the guests are standing.

4. If you want your guests to bring their own dish pot, luck supper parties is the way to go. The role of the host in such parties is to provide a uniform and location for the party.

5. A fondue party is another type of party menu that's easy and fun to hold. In the early 70s, these types of parties were popular, but today folk have started to use them due to their efficiency. You need more than simply one fondue set so that you can cook different meals. If you're new to this idea, you should try hot oil fondue or cheese fondue mixed with vegetables and meat either in batter or plain. The dessert should be mixed with fruits dipped in a chocolate fondue sauce to make it delicious.

6. Have you tried a hot potato bar? Pre-bake the potatoes in their skins and then let the guests garnish with toppings. Some of the toppings that should be present on the dining table include: chili beef, olives, hot sauces, tomato, pineapple, cooked onions and salsa.

7. Afternoon tea parties are easy to organize. Aside from preparing tea or coffee, you should also have plenty of cakes and sandwiches. Cucumber or chicken can be used to make sandwich fillings that'll make the bread interesting. The afternoon tea menu might also include sweet and savory muffins.

The party menu is a choice you've got to make after consulting. The menu should match with the theme of your party. When making the preparations, you should ask your guests whether they are allergic to the food they're going to be serving.
