Finding The Correct Easter Play Scripts For Your Church Troupe

By Dianne Crane

Every Christian would be familiar with Easter. It is the festival that commemorates the victory of the cross. The Easter play scripts concentrate on the vagaries of human nature and the events that led to the crucifixion of Jesus. We are reminded that mortal man can only achieve very little but God can do so much. This event tells us of our dependence on the people we work and live with.

It is a thrill to put up a drama that tells us a real life story. Jesus was an adult and nearing his sojourn on earth as a common man. Social norms and aspects of life that show the dependence of man upon each other have values that are vesting varying for the people at that time. It is the continuation of life and the social and cultural value we place upon it that makes the festival so special. Everyone wants to be a part of this celebration.

At the Last Supper, Jesus speaks about the betrayal and of His transformation as He rises from the dead. He metaphorically denotes the bread and wine to be His body and blood. The sacrament thus becomes the gateway for Christians to the eternal life as promised by our Savior. One is granted absolution from sin and from commitments that are not fruitful.

Celebrations typically include family get together and meals, services in the Church hunting for the Easter egg and gift giving. Families get together to mark their continuance to the spirit of Christianity and of oneness with the family members. By setting aside the day for the members of the family one makes the commitment to strengthen the bonds that tie them together.

Crucifixion and death of Jesus the Lord on a Cross is followed by His resurrection. This happens on the third day and is the one after the Sabbath. It gives us the promise of eternal life if one is willing to follow the Savior. Happiness comes when one realizes that he or she is granted absolution and eternal life if one will follow Jesus Christ. To renew the faith and keep ourselves on course with the promised life, we celebrate this holy day.

Easter is marked as the Sunday that will follow the full moon day that occurs after the vernal equinox of northern hemisphere. This equinox happens on March 20. The Sunday that is following this will be chosen as the Easter Sunday. This festival has connections to Passover which is celebrated to mark the exodus by Egyptians in Old Testament.

There are some scripts that portray the actual crucifixion and the way Jesus died. Some of the stories deal with the events and characters who were involved. Thus Jesus entry into Jerusalem, the last supper that He had with the disciples and the resurrection form the main themes for most plays.

Easter play scripts tell of the triumph of Jesus over the cross. Choose a play that has lively script and moving dialogues. This is the fun part when you get to choose the script that you want to stage. If you have the correct script the entire team will get a boost. Easter will be a success.
