Gretsch Guitars Continue To Increase In Popularity

By Joe Buxton

The Gretsch guitars are one of the most popular guitars in the world. Their manufacturing has begun in the 1930s, after 47 years since the company has been established. Their time of glory was between 1950s and 1960s. After this period, they lost a bit of their popularity because of their low quality. The construction techniques and the poor quality material had, eventually, turned them in less desirable.

But, their looks brought them again into the attention of the collectors. Many collectors are more attracted by their looks than in the sounds they are producing. Several years have been passed since the company locked her doors, but her legacy continues. There are many collectors, scattered all over the world, who are willing to pay lots of money for an original guitar from the 1950s.

The best known are the western models. There are still the ones with a stranger look in form of cow. Even those are considered very cool. They have engraved position markers which make them collectible and very precious. But, these models have appeared only until 1957s. From this period all the others models were not that cool, making them less desirable.

There are lots of collectors in the entire world, most of them being attracted by their looks, which are not ordinary. Such a guitar needs an extra attention, because the models before 1970s are not lasting forever. They need special care, because the models tend to lose their capacity and the binding materials seem to lose their power in time.

Even so, the models before that period are most popular and searched by the collectors. The models looks are very attractive for the most of the collectors. Their western pick guards and trim, their strange but cool look is what make these models very desirable. The most popular models are the 6120 Chet Atkins hollow body, 6121 Chet Atkins solid body, 6130 Round up and the 6022 Rancher.

The sparkly models are more attractive than the ones black or red. The electric guitar models have a bigger reputation than the acoustic ones. It is said that the most of them have not survived in time because of the low quality of the material and because of the construction techniques. But, that does not mean that they are not searched by the collectors.

Even if the original company has closed her doors in 1981s, it does not mean that these extraordinary guitar types have been lost. In the present days, a company from Japan has started to produce copies of these guitars after they have bought their name. The copies they are producing are the originals from 1950s. This way, more beautiful even more and strange looks ones will appear to delight the people eyes again.

The Gretsch guitars can be a good investment. Many collectors are trying to achieve a model. They are well known for their distinctive sound and look. Many people thought that those models are not famous for nothing. There are great names which have played on such a model and they were not disappointed. They had said that playing at such a guitar is an honor.
