One of the fitness items growing hugely in popularity over the last year or so has been the use of funny gym t shirts. In our article today we point out the good and the bad aspects of using these in your local fitness center.
Rapidly increasing in popularity, this particular niche appears to have really caught the imagination of those who have been 'in the zone' training regularly for the last few years.
Something as simple as a semi-sarcastic or cheesy workout phrase can have a massive impact on your time in the weights, as well as having an overall positive effect on life outside the walls of the iron, too. How?
* There's a lot to be said for someone who doesn't take themselves too seriously, after all
* They are a very good ice breaker
* There's nothing wrong with putting a little smile on the face of those around you
But before you go rushing out to pick up a selection of cheesy statements such as "Shut up an squat!" or "Can you call a vet, because these pythons are sick!" you need to be sure of one very important thing which can literally make or break your new favorite workout wear:
Are you able to pull off the statement you're carrying?
You need to find out what works for your body and what doesn't. For example, a bodybuilder would be able to get away with "Get massive, stay massive!" but the average 50kg skinny student wouldn't be. Sure he could be going for tongue-in-cheek in a bid to make the opposite sex laugh, but there is a much larger chance that he'll just open himself up for self ridicule. Remember, there are enough negative people out there to put you down you don't need to do it yourself.
This trend appears to grow in popularity almost by the month and in our gym it's now a regular fixture among hard training members.
Try adding one of these into your workout wardrobe. The positive effect it can have on your gym time, not to mention your lifestyle as it opens up new conversations with trainers you may never have spoken to otherwise, is most certainly worth it.
